British violinist Rosa Hartley has performed extensively at some of the world’s top concert venues as a soloist, chamber musician and as an orchestral player. International engagements have taken her across Europe, Scandinavia and Asia. Recent concerto appearances include Brahms Violin Concerto with High Peak Orchestra, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with Salford Symphony Orchestra and Bach Concerto for two violins with Manchester Bach Players. During 2016-2017 Rosa performed with the London Symphony Orchestra as part of its String Experience Scheme and has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra since 2016. In addition Rosa has taken part in masterclasses and received guidance from renowned violinists and teachers such as Thomas Zehetmair, Pierre Amoyal, Alina Ibragimova and Mauricio Fuks. Rosa has also received a number of awards and prizes, recently including EMI Music Sound Foundation award, BBC Performing Arts Bursary, Vibrato Foundation Scholarship, and Ida Carroll Awards.

Rosa graduated in 2017 with a First Class Honours degree from the Royal College of Music in London and is now studying for her postgraduate masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music with György Pauk. She previously studied with Wen Zhou Li at Chetham’s School of Music and Itzhak Rashkovsky at the RCM. A recipient of the Harrison Gowland Bequest Award and the Derek Butler Award, Rosa is also very grateful to the Countess of Munster, Help Musicians UK and the Kathleen Trust for supporting her studies. Rosa plays on a 1717 Pietro Antonio dalla Costa violin, kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.

Rosa also played the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E Minor on the 18th October 2015 with Salford Symphony Orchestra.
